What Your Support Helps Grow

Wozu’s work is built around four connected pillars: Buffalo Restoration, Food Sovereignty, Outdoor Stewardship, and Culture, Arts, & Wellness. Together, they strengthen land, people, culture and community.

Building Food Sovereignty

Access to healthy food can strengthen families, support wellness, and build skills that can be shared across generations.

Wozu supports local food systems by providing fresh eggs, buffalo meat, and produce while creating opportunities for community members to grow and harvest food, learn gardening and traditional food practices, and share food, skills, and knowledge with others.

Connecting Youth to the Land

Time spent learning on the land can give young people more than practical skills. It can build confidence, strengthen relationships with mentors, and deepen their connection to place.

Wozu’s outdoor stewardship programs give youth hands-on experience with fishing, outdoor safety, land navigation, animal behavior, harvesting, and processing practices.

Strengthening Culture, Arts, and Wellness

Culture stays strong when people have opportunities to practice it, share it, and pass it on.

Wozu creates spaces for community members to connect through language classes, craft nights, youth activities, traditional games, cooking programs, and wellness activities like yoga and walking groups.

A class can become a skill. A skill can become a tradition. A tradition can become something a child carries forward.

Restoring Buffalo.
Restoring The Land

Buffalo are central to Wozu’s work to restore connections between people, animals, and the land. They are more than an important part of the ecosystem. For generations, buffalo have been deeply connected to Indigenous life, culture, and well being.

Wozu cares for a herd of 47 buffalo, including 35 adults and 12 calves, while restoring the land and rebuilding relationships with buffalo that have been disrupted across generations.
